Why did you choose to come to Penn State? I chose to come to Penn State because of how much I felt at home the minute I stepped on campus for the first time. It was my last stop on my college road trip, and I just knew. Everyone walking by would shout "WE ARE" at my mom and me just proving how big of a family Penn State is. The opportunities I knew I would have here didn't hurt either.
What has been your best memory as an engineering student? My best memory as an engineering student has been becoming a part of the AE family. This major was the perfect fit for me, and I couldn't imagine having a better group of people that are passionate about the same things I am.
What has been your best memory as a Penn State student? My best memory as a Penn State student was being at the Michigan Homecoming game this past year. I was tossed up over 50 times, watched arguably the best game I will ever see in the S-Zone, and I got to spend it with my favorite people. The amount of high-fives and hugs I got that day from strangers will never be okay, but considering they're all Penn State family, it was great!
What advice would you give a first-year engineer? My advice to a first-year engineer would be to not take life too seriously. I spent so much time stressing over anything and everything. This year I learned that those little things I stressed about won't matter as much in the long run. When given the choice between cramming in the last hour before an exam or going outside with your friends to play frisbee, choose your friends every time.
Give me one fun fact about yourself. If I could play soccer every day of my life I most definitely would.
Lauren is a junior studying Architectural Engineering.
