Why did you choose to come to Penn State? Penn State has so many great opportunities and I knew I wanted to take advantage of everything I could. Penn State has an incredible engineering program with a rigorous course of study.

What has been your best memory as an engineering student? As an engineering ambassador I made a presentation with my group about movie engineering special effects. In the middle of the presentation we picked up a sheet of sugar glass we had made the night before and smashed it. It was very exciting and fun! And our presentation has been added to the bank for EA school outreach activities.

What has been your best memory as a Penn State student? During my sophomore year I went to Honduras over spring break with a Penn State humanitarian engineering group. We installed solar panels on a day care and went snorkeling in the coral reef and zip lining through the canopy.

What advice would you give a first-year engineer? Try everything, because you never know what you're going to love unless you try it. When you graduate, you will be grateful for the experience and the knowledge that you are getting into a field that you'll love.

Give me one fun fact about yourself. I have been to over 35 states.

Kristen is a senior studying Chemical Engineering.
