Why did you choose to come to Penn State? Because it is the best place in the world. Football season at PSU is unlike anything I've every experienced. I love how many opportunities I have and all the experiences that Penn State has to offer. Also, we obviously have an outstanding engineering department that I feel is really challenging yet invigorating to be a part of.
What is your best Penn State or engineering memory? Darrel's Chem E 210 Center Stories. He really put humanity into engineering which I thought was really important. He often talked about the ethics of engineering and it really hit home to me that what engineers do and the decisions we make (ethical or unethical) really impact a lot of people.
What advice would you give a first-year engineer? To really throw yourselves into college. There are so many opportunities and organizations to get involved with. Try things on for size, and if you don't like them, there's no harm in moving on to something different. Try THON, and engineering clubs, and random clubs like the Tea Drinking club and ect. You'll grow so deeply as a person by finding what it is that you really enjoy doing within engineering and outside of it. Everything is about balance. So once you find the activities you really enjoy doing, you'll flourish as a person.
What is a fun fact about yourself? I am unhealthily obsessed with cats.
Katie is a junior studying Chemical Engineering
