Why did you choose to come to Penn State? I chose Penn State for a lot of reasons but what really won me over was the atmosphere and sense of school pride. Besides for an awesome community, at Penn State your opportunities in academics and extra curricular activities will never be limited.

What has been your best memory as an engineering student? Being a mentor for the Women in Engineering Program

What has been your best memory as a Penn State student? Besides for Saturday football games in Beaver Stadium, my best experience had to be when I traveled on an alternative spring break to New Orleans to help build a home for a family with The Fuller Center. I met some amazing people and was able to travel to a city that I had never been to before.

What advice would you give a first-year engineer? Get involved and take time for your hobbies and interests outside of engineering. Be sure to get your full Penn State experience by joining clubs and doing extra curricular activities. As an engineer it is easy to get absorbed in your class work and it feels like it is never ending, but getting involved will help you meet new people and get you gain new experiences and opportunities outside the classroom.

Give me one fun fact about yourself. I did not start at Penn State as an engineering student.

Kara is a senior in Civil and Environmental Engineering.
